Introduction
GTA Voice Mail gives you the freedom to work without interruptions and record all calls. When you receive calls, GTA Voice Mail will answer:
- More than one call at a time,
- Whenever your phone or line is busy,
- Anytime you can’t answer,
- Remains on even when the power is out,
- Requires no equipment on your premises.
And you don’t have to remember to turn your service off and on – GTA Voice Mail is on 24 hours a day.
With GTA Voice Mail you can:
- Greet callers with your own voice;
- Retrieve your messages from any touch-tone telephone;
- Have calls directed to your voice mailbox without it ringing your phone;
- Always be in touch at home or from another location; and many other great features.
GTA Voice Mail will automatically start answering calls and taking messages on your activation date. You can make changes whenever you want, wherever you are. Simple voice prompts guide you every step of the way.
GTA Voice Mail is available in a number of different service level packages. From Voice Mail Standard that provides subscribers the basic functions of call answering, play, save, and delete, to Voice Mail Plus and Voice Mail Premium packages providing enhanced services such as Fax Messaging, Constant Touch, Wake-Up Service, and Message Forwarding. GTA Voice Mail is available to both business and residential subscribers.
Getting Started
The first time you use GTA Voice Mail, an automated attendant tutorial will assist you to record your name and personal greeting, and set your password. You must complete the tutorial before you can continue.
Password Setup
- To our new GTA Voice Mail subscribers, your Voice Mailbox Number is assigned to you by our Customer Service Representative when you sign up for this service.
- Dial your Voice Mailbox Number __486-XXXX__ to enter the voice mail system.
- When you hear the greeting, press [*]. The automated attendant welcomes you to the voice messaging system and asks you to enter your password. Your temporary password is 9999.
- Press the 4 key to enter the personal options.
- Press the 4 key to modify your personal preferences.
- Press the 1 key to modify your password.
- Enter your new password followed by the # key.
NOTE: Your password must be 4 to 7 digits long. Be sure to write it down and keep it in a safe place. You will use it to access your mailbox.
Recording Your Mailbox Name
You can record your name to identify your mailbox during various operations, such as sending and receiving forwarded messages.
- Press the 3 key to access your recorded name.
- Press the 2 key to record your name. You are prompted to speak your name.
- Speak your name and press the # key when finished.
Recording Your Greeting
You can record a greeting to inform callers that they have reached your mailbox. You can change the greeting at any time to give callers updated information, such as your schedule for the day.
- Access your mailbox.
- Press the 3 key to access the greeting options.
- Press the 2 key to record your greeting. You are prompted to record your greeting.
- Speak your greeting.
- Press the # key when finished.
TIP: If you want to play your newly created greeting, press the 1 key.
Sample Greeting
“Hello, you have reached (name of your company/department). We are either on the phone or otherwise unable to take your call. Please leave your name and telephone number after the tone, and I/we will return your call as soon as possible. Thank you.”
Retrieving Your Messages
GTA Voice Mail uses an intermittent dial tone to indicate a new message is waiting. Intermittent dial tone sounds a rapid “beep, beep, beep…,” instead of the normal, continuous dial tone. If your telephone is equipped with a light indicator, the light will illuminate alerting you that a new message is waiting.
To access your voice mailbox from your phone, simply dial your voice mailbox number. When you hear the greeting, press [*], then enter your password.
Accessing Your Voice Mail from Another Phone
You can access your messages from any phone other than your office phone with your voice mail box number. To access your mailbox from any telephone, simply dial your voice mailbox number.
- Dial your Voice Mailbox Number.
- Press [*]. The automated attendant will greet you and ask for your password.
- Enter your password. You are now in your mailbox. The system plays a series of your options and its associated key commands.

- Press [1] = play message
- Press [2] = record/continue recording
- Press [5] = select delivery options
a. Press [1] = select urgent
b. Press [2] = select private
c. Press [3] = notify non-delivery
d. Press [4] = select future delivery (30 days max)
e. Press [*] = delete delivery tags
- Press [7] = delete message
- Press [9] = send message
3. Greeting Menu:
- Press [1] = play active greeting
- Press [2] = record active greeting
- Press [7] = delete active greeting
4. Personal Options Menu: (only on Voice Mail Plus)
- Press [4] = modify personal preferences
a. Press [1] = modify login password
b. Press [2] = change playback preferences
• Press [1] = Last In First Out/First In First Out
• Press [2] = normal/automatic playback
• Press [3] = time stamp
c. Press [3] = access recorded name
• Press [1] = play name
• Press [2] = record name
• Press [3] = delete name
d. Press [4] = modify personal operator

e. Press [7] = restrict caller id
- Press [8] = enable/disable bypass password
